Chamel is a faith mentor, encourager, and creator for Christian women. And while her faith has been a bright guiding light not only in her life, but also in her business, the path hasn't always been a clear, straightforward one. And the fears and doubts haven't escaped her.

As a Christian creative and entrepreneur, Chamel admits that one of her biggest doubts is whether or not she can build this into a profitable business.

Whatever your guiding light may be, there are still moments of doubt and fear and insecurity along this entrepreneurial journey.

In case you've forgotten, you are not alone. Now get cozy, take a mental break, and get to know Chamel.

BEFORE WE DIVE RIGHT IN, LET'S START OUT WITH A QUICK ROUND OF THE QUESTION GAME…

WHAT'S YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIE?

Dirty Dancing

COLD OR HOT?

Hot. Your girl can find some ways to cool down …. but it's hard to warm up!

WHAT'S YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE?

Words of affirmation

1. TELL US ABOUT YOUR BIZ IN 3 SENTENCES OR LESS.

My brand fuses Biblical truth with creative application to help women live anchored in their faith and illuminate their God-given power of influence in their homes, careers, businesses, and communities.  I empower Christian women to live out their truest authentic selves, love and influence those in their circle with grace, and break free from mental roadblocks through faith-infused mentoring, encouraging products, and actionable resources.

2. NOW, LET'S START AT THE BEGINNING. WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

Whew … my journey started back in 2012.  With my first business, Chamel’s Creations, I created hair bows and sold my accessories at local events in Virginia while working as a computer scientist.  It was my hobby and allowed me to bring my creativity into the world.

A few years later, after transitioning to be a stay-at-home mom to care for my son who was born prematurely at 25 weeks (he was 1 lb, 9 oz), I felt God's stirring (or as I like to describe it, my awakening) to take my passion more seriously and walk out God’s calling in my life. I relaunched my brand sharing my handmade product line of encouraging and inspirational wristlets, jewelry, and other wearables to help women express their faith in the everyday. I loved and enjoyed what I was doing, but I felt that there was something more for me. I was still comparing myself to similar businesses and trying to read and implement everything under the sun to make my business work.

Did you catch that?  I was trying to make the business work!

After digging deeper in my own personal faith journey, God started pruning away at some emotional and mental strongholds and showing me the importance of a strong faith core. It allowed me to see that the freedom and the abundance I so desired wasn’t going to happen until I got real honest with myself and truly surrendered to all the messiness that was going on and just embraced where I was.

Ladies … the struggle is real, but it’s not a lifestyle!

God wanted me to truly experience walking in victory and to help others do the same. But I had no idea that he was going to use me as a beacon to share His light with other women with the same struggles.

January 2016 marked my step of faith...

I chose to let go and surrender it all to God to truly embrace the calling on my life. Yes, I started this journey focused on the business side of things, but God has transformed my heart’s desire into something much more than I could have imagined. He has birthed a ministry in me to ignite the hearts of women to dissolve the doubt, fear, and perfection and spark our inner God-given light into the world.

When you experience my brand, you get to embark on a journey with me. It’s my heart ... real, transparent, and honest conversation and tools about what it means to be a woman of faith and and a woman of influence.

We are women designed to have our divine essence touch the whole world. For me, this is a spirit-led crusade not only touching my life and the individuals that God connects me with, but with generations to come. This is my legacy.

3. YOUR LIFE + BIZ JOURNEY IS A BOOK. WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE CHAPTER YOU'RE CURRENTLY IN?

Permission to Evolve — allowing God to unfold it all!

4. WHAT'S BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY SO FAR?

My struggle has been keeping my focus on God’s leading in how He wants me to run my business His way and not allowing industry’s so-called "must-dos”, comparison of others, and my need to control it all drive my path.  I have to admit that I’ve bought coaching sessions, courses, books, and spent a lot of hours searching online for the perfect, instant strategy for success.

My journey helped me to realize that God had a better way for me, and it definitely wasn't a strategy I had saved on my Pinterest board!

I’ve decided to take another approach and embrace my journey as a Christian Creative on God's terms... releasing control, giving myself permission to evolve, cultivating my path, serving those that God has led me to, and moving in faith little by little.

5. WE'RE ALL BATTLING DOUBTS EVERY DAY AS ENTREPRENEURS. WHAT'S BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST DOUBTS YOU'VE DEALT WITH?

I must admit that there are many times when I doubt that I will have a profitable business as a Christian creative and entrepreneur.

When I started out on this journey, I asked that God would allow me to use my gifts and talents for His glory and as a means to support my family financially.  However, over the years I have struggled with money mindset, my worth, and how to price out my services and products.

I have a big heart and I'm so passionate about serving, encouraging, and supporting others.  However, there are many times when I wonder if others will see the true value or simply think it should be given away.⠀

What God has shown me on this amazing journey is that my real worth is in Him. I've learned who I am in Him and to let go and stand in my true worth, because at the end of the day, my gifts come from Him and my labor won't be in vain! ⠀

This struggle is definitely something I’ve had to work through over the years, but I’ve learned to recognize when fear and doubt tries to creep in and I simply remind myself of who I am in Christ and what He has called me to do.

I’m worthy and the fruit of my labor is, too!  So, I stand in that truth daily!
